I purchased my TDI in January of 08, used with 14,000 miles on it. The greatest car I have ever owned on fuel economy. Even with the spike in Diesel fuel, I drive 100 miles a day to work and back and a couple hundred on the weekend. I drive 45 miles each way, all which is on the expressway and only drive 60. All others will have to go around. I get as high as 53.9 MPG with new oil filter and new synthetic oil and new fuel filter. After that is calms down to 50.2 to 51 MPG. When I am in just the city with air on it get 42 to 43. I do have the 5 speed and do not take off fast at traffic starts. The car is great. Just my two cents for you thinking of buying one.
