A "Love at first drive" story

Personally speaking ... it may be "Love at first drive," but for me the longer time love affair  is an even more compelling reason to own a Volkswagen TDI.

Love at first drive

The Volkswagen TDI is stylish, modern - and totally entrancing

Sssssshhh.

Don't tell anyone, but I'm in love. I didn't expect it, but true love is like that.

I was smitten at first sight. Attired in white, tan and charcoal, she was awfully attractive. Her chrome jewelry sparkled in the sunlight. She seemed just the right size — not too big, not too small. Her shape was perfect.

Then I started a conversation. Her quiet voice had a slight rasp, but we fell into an easy conversation.

Born in Europe, she came of age in Mexico. Maybe that's why she seemed so different from others I've dated.

Perfect carYou'll find the object of my affection at your Volkswagen dealer: the 2009 Volkswagen TDI. It's equipped with a 40-mpg diesel engine, leather interior, room for four, great handling, potent acceleration, great build quality and 16-cubic-foot trunk.

The TDI will find your weak spot. It certainly found mine.

The car is blessed with a refined manner and an easy grace under the most demanding situations.

It's easy to fall under the TDI's spell. I found the car entrancing.

Before long, we were spending lots of time together, and the TDI's true nature came through.

The car's sense of style was modern and very European.

Yet it knew how to comfort me — on long drives, Sirius satellite radio kept me entertained as I whiled away the hours in the firm seats.

There was that warm day when we escaped the ordinary and headed to the Outer Banks. And the TDI was ready to romp and race, letting its hair down and just having fun.

The TDI ate — or should I say drank — like a bird. It runs on diesel fuel, causing my brother to swear that the car gave off a strange odor.

I just sniffed at him with disdain, arguing, “She's a frugal gourmet!”

Fast, fun, refined and frugal. What's not to like?

Looking back, I realize that my week with the TDI was a week in heaven, one that I am all too willing to relive.

happy or bad thoughts?

I can't decide if I relate or if I should be covering my eyes from something I shouldn't be reading.  Interesting way to review a car, but I think its fitting.
